Our Communal Kitchen within the Society has been welcoming homeless women and men since December 1, 1993.

For the homeless people who are pushed to the streets and regularly visit the night shelters, mainly on the streets and in public areas, the communal kitchen provides one meal a day with a place to eat it. Unfortunately, we very often find that low-income people and pensioners who are not homeless but live in the area are also forced to use this service.

One meal served in the communal kitchen contains a minimum of 800 and a maximum of 1200 calories. We consider it very important to offer these people provision on weekends and holidays, therefore the service is available every day throughout the year.

The communal kitchen is open every day from 12.00 to 13.00, and meals are served in several shifts. The meals are prepared through a contract with the Cafe of the John Wesley Theological College.

Our guests mainly come from the circle of adult men and women who make use of the social and health services of the Oltalom Society.

The goal of the communal kitchen is to provide a meal a day for the needy and to reduce the increased physical risks especially in the wintertime such as chilblains, colds, and other sicknesses.

The following services are available to those who fulfill admittance requirements:

  • One meal per day
  • Information, instruction
